Context

The product context

Buying a car online is not a standard e-commerce flow. It involves vehicle configuration, availability, services, ownership logic, personal data, payment-related steps and multiple decision points.

The challenge was to make automotive purchase and ownership flows easier to understand, while keeping the experience scalable across different brands, services and user scenarios.

Key decisions
  • Simplified checkout decision moments
  • Clearer structure for account and ownership-related flows
  • Reusable interface patterns for product states
  • Better separation between configuration, services and checkout logic
  • More consistent components for scalable implementation
Product complexity

The experience had to support multiple layers of user decisions, from vehicle selection and configuration to account areas, services, subscriptions and checkout-related steps.

UX approach

The work focused on breaking multi-step flows into clearer steps, improving interface consistency and creating reusable patterns that could scale across different parts of the product experience.

Design system

The design work contributed to reusable UI structures, consistent components, clearer states and developer-ready patterns for automotive purchase flows.

Outcome

The work contributed to a clearer, more consistent and scalable digital experience across car purchasing and ownership-related flows.

Reflection

This project reinforced the importance of product logic, edge cases and scalable design foundations when designing digital experiences for real-world purchase journeys.
